According to the CDC, as of October 7 this year, there have been 7,475,262 positive cases in the United States, along with 210,232 deaths. President Trump boarded Marine One Friday evening to be evaluated at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, after showing symptoms of the virus. Mr. Trump's symptoms included mild cough, fatigue, and nasal congestion. Although the President notified the country on Twitter to say "I feel much better now." confusion arose when Mark Meadows, White House Chief of Staff, told reporters, "The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care."

To show support for the President, supporters rallied outside the hospital, where the president later made an appearance in a motorcade fashion. President Trump also posted a video to ease the concern of Americans across the country on his health stating, "I am starting to feel good... I just want to be so thankful for the support I've seen, whether it be on television, or reading about it, I most of all appreciate what's been said by the American people."

Former Vice President to Barack Obama, and current Presidential candiate Joe Biden, was tested for COVID-19 along with his wife Jill Biden, after coming in close contact with the president on September 29, after the first presidential debate. Biden and his wife tested negative for the virus that has affected many lives across the nation. In response to Trumps diagnosis, Biden wished him well when posting the following on Twitter:

To comply with social distancing orders, the two podiums at the Presidential debate were placed twelve feet and eight inches apart from each other. Due to the presidents diagnosis, campaigning is still in question for Mr. Trump as he battles the virus. The president is eager to get back to campaigning as he tweeted from Walter Reed Medical Center, "Will be back on the Campaign Trail soon!!! The Fake News only shows the Fake Polls." Although his treatment is ongoing, the president has returned to the White House on October 5, where he continues to recover. In effort to ease concern of the American people, the president posted on Twitter telling Americans "Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge."
